TOPIC: Ideal stock rules

Ideal stock rules 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 1
There has been a lot of inquiry about the ideal stock rules, so let's start getting things together right now.

We would like to keep this class close to what was proposed at the end of the 2010 season (being a class for 4 and 6 cylinder cars). The primary concern has been with the allowance of full frame/tube rwd cars and that ultimately making it a 6 cyl street stock class. This would again leave the current pony stocks and fwd 6 cylinder cars somewhat out of the loop.

That in mind, here is what we are thinking thus far:

Class will be open to any 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drive unibody style car. Limitations would be no convertibles or two seat coupes.

Here are some questions:

1. do we limit cars to domestic manufacture? (ford, GM, Mopar) or allow foreign manufacture (honda, toyota, etc.)
2. Mandate stock wheels or allow racing wheels?
3. Allow racing tires, or restrict to DOT tires? (spec racing tire?)
4. Open exhaust, engine, and suspension rules or stock (keep in mind we are trying to make the teching process simple)
5.any other thoughts questions?

Please feel free to reply here or send me an email. We would like to just collect information/feedback between now and thursday the 28th. Then on Saturday the 30th meet with all interested drivers. I will announce where and what time we will meet somewhere in the middle of the week.

Thanks,
Brian

Just my opinions and what I would like to see.
1. Domestic only
2. Allow racing wheels, too much stress on stock wheels
3. Allow racing tires. 3 or 4 spec racing tires, not 1. Should keep 8" limit.
4. Must meet a db limit. NO open headers. MUST exit behind drivers seat.
5. Keep in mind that the fans come to see fast cars. Lets start out reasonable and see where it leads before we open it up too much. A little leary running fwd and rwd together as they do not seem to run the same line and this could be a problem. Make transievers mandatory

Make the rules for the class you want to see at the track.
The traditional pony rules worked very well for a long time.
Anything that increases costs will diminish the car numbers.
Now if you want a run what you brung class you will get around 6 faithful cars that EXPECT IT IS THEIR RITE TO WIN. When they get beat they will simply spend more and win more. This is fine for those that can afford it. If affordable entry level racing is what you want then penalize repeat winners, weight , intake or exhaust restrictions, etc.
Maybe a car claim for an entry level class would be a good idea.
Good luck with whatever you decide. I have no horse in this race anymore so it is actually none of my business anyway.
