Perry, Mi- The RACESTATUS.com MCR Dwarfs roll in the New Spartan Speedway for the big opening night event and didn’t disappoint the fans in attendance with one of greatest finishes in auto racing.

Dewitt Michigan native “The Bare Foot Kid” Craig Curtis your 2009 Champion, picked up were he left off last year, setting fast time Friday night with 13.429. Your 2007 and 2008 series champ Eric Hoffman was second fastest scoring a 13.666. The “Wylie One” Jon Wylie was you third fastest with a 13.818. Landon Hidy, who pulled double duty Friday night at Spartan Speedway, was your fourth fastest with a 13.842 and rounding out the top five with a 13.864 was Mike Mcmanman Sr.

In Heat Race number one it was the Wauseon, Ohio native Mike Hicks scoring the victory, teammate Mike Konwinski crossed the line in second, and rounding out the top three “The Violator” and Howell, Michigan native Todd Getz. Heat Race number two it was Nick Shanks out of Rockwood, Michigan crossing the line first. Brownstown, Michigan’s native Brad Wyatt took second, and Joe Mcmanman finished third. In the Fast Car Dash it was the Jon Wylie holding Craig Curtis for the checkered flag, Landon Hidy crossed the line in third.

In the Feature, Brad Wyatt jumped out early in the lead and lead the field for 22 laps, while behind him Curtis and Wylie battled for second staying side by side and neither of the two giving an inch. At Lap 23 Curtis found the right groove to take the lead passing Wyatt with two laps two and was on his way to the opening night victory. Lap 23 caution flag flew for the 0 car of Wyatt spun in turn 2 while trying to regain the lead. With one lap left the green flew again for Curtis, out of turn 2 Wylie inched is car along side of Curtis making side by side drag race down the back stretch, into turn three no one gave an inch and out of four is a drag race to the line, at the line by a quarter of a car length it was Jon Wylie scoring the first feature of the season. Craig Curtis took second with a great run and show for Spartan crowd. Eric Hoffman rolled across the line in third, with Landon Hidy taking fourth and Mike Mcmanman Sr. round out the top five in the RACESTATUS.com MCR Dwarf opening night feature.
